Our pack meets most Tuesdays, from September to May, at Schertz United Methodist Church. Most weeks, scouts will attend den meetings. Once a month, we hold a pack meeting where scouts are recognized for their achievements and presented with their awards. We meet less frequently during the summer for special activities.
Kindergarten and 1st grade scouts must have an adult partner present and actively helping them at all times. Older scouts may attend meetings without their parent/guardian, but will need a guardian to be present for family camping and other special events. However, Cub Scouts is a family program, and we encourage you to take an active role in your child's scouting journey. Our pack is entirely volunteer-run, and we rely on parents like you to provide a quality program for our scouts!
Expected costs include:
Annual Dues (for youth) to Scouting America: $85
Alamo Area Council Program Fee: $48
Annual Pack dues: $100 (these are covered for scouts that sell popcorn!)
Uniform: Varies
Fees associated with special events, campouts, etc.
There may be scholarships available to cover the cost of annual dues, program fees, and summer camp. Contact us for more information!
There is no prior experience or knowledge needed to join Cub Scouts. Your scout will learn outdoor skills in a safe and age-appropriate manner. Training is also available for adults that want to gain outdoor skills!
Pack 51 welcomes boys and girls, in grades K-5.
The den meeting is the most important aspect of Cub Scouting. It is where scouts make friends, learn new skills, and work towards advancements. Dens are organized by school grade, and scouts all work on age-appropriate adventures in the following topics: personal fitness, personal safety/first aid, family & reverence, citizenship, and outdoors. Scouts also have the opportunity to complete elective adventures in a variety of topics. These might be focused on camping, science, art, careers, building, and many other topics! During the meeting, a volunteer Den Leader will lead the den in skill-building activities, games, and fun crafts.
Our scouts participate in many fun events with Pack 51 each year! Here are just a few of the special activities we have done:
Pinewood Derby
Raingutter Regatta
Family Camping
Fishing
Summer Camp
Shooting Sports
Service Projects
Overnight Experiences
Flag Ceremonies
Field Trips
